Insite program - linking process technology to system design
With further technology scaling, designers face growing challenges. The number of technology options keeps increasing. And the newest technologies still offer gains in power, performance and cost – but these cannot be realized all at the same time.
Therefore, companies need an early assessment of how technology options will play out for their innovative applications. They need early and quantitative assessments of gains, issues, and risks at the system-level. This way, they can make the best possible technology choice for their applications.
Imec’s INSITE program gives design companies insight into the newest technologies. This allows them to make smart choices for their product roadmaps. Imec’s INSITE program allows early feedback technology specification, early decisions on architectural design changes, faster learning cycles for technology adoption, resulting in a vastly reduced risk.
Today, the scope of the INSITE program ranges from imminent technologies (28nm), over emerging technologies (e.g. 22nm, 16nm, 3D Through Silicon via) to more disruptive technologies (e.g. novel memory, 3D-integration, optical interconnect, cooling).
