Collaboration with Howest

Every year a limited number of students is offered the chance to spend a longer time in IMEC. These 'in residence'-projects are designed for youngsters who share a multidisciplinary background, a hands-on mentality and a creative, open mind. Today such a collaboration is set up with the department industrial design of Howest, the university college of West Flanders.

For his master thesis Jan Leyssens focuses on IMEC's latest developments in solar cell technologies. He will develop and design a new product using IMEC's large area silicon solar cells. The working prototype will be displayed in IMECEXPO, IMEC's visitor center. Jan's tinkerings can be followed at imec-howest.blogspot.com

Jasper Aelvoet, also industrial design student at Howest, is working on the integration of RFID tags in a jewel powered by IMEC's solar cells. Jaspers' work can be followed via stagejasperaelvoet.blogspot.com
